Clay throwing, mud-maker

the art of clay

There’s just something mesmerizing about watching the wheel turn. But it’s more than just throwing a lump of clay on a board. It’s weighing the clay, keeping it hydrated as you center it - one arm pushing in the other pushing down, moving slowly and methodically to keep it from going off balance. It’s messy and exhausting but the beauty it creates is magical.

Every piece of Meghann’s pottery tells a beautiful story. That is something that you don’t come by often - feeling a genuine connection to the artist when showing off a new handmade piece crafted just for you. Thank you for the unique craftsmanship, fantastic quality & the organically wonderful look of ‘my’ pieces.

I’ve admired Meghann’s pottery for years and was hoping for a chance to work with her on a custom piece. Then a much-loved serving platter broke, and I had my opportunity. The design process was fun and easy. Meghann asked all the right questions to understand not only my design preferences, but also how I would use the piece. She created a platter that is not only beautiful but so useful. It graces my dinner table almost every night. Now I own a meaningful, handmade item with a story behind it. It’s a family heirloom!

I found Meghann’s pottery at a local Etsy Market. In talking with her about individual pieces, you feel the love and connection she has with each work of art she creates. I first purchased unique and highly functional pottery toothbrush holders for my teenage boys’ bathroom. I have continued to shop with Meghann and have even purchased a beautiful one of a kind vase out of the back of her car before it even hit her shelf. Her pieces are versatile, eye catching conversational pieces that compliment any room of your home.

I can guarentee

That each piece you buy will be one of a kind. Mostly because I can never remember the exact type of clay I used last session or what glaze combination I used to get that cool effect. And production pottery isn’t in my practice. Every piece is made with love and purpose and when you give one of my pieces a good home, it’s up to you to decide the functionality.

about meghann

I started working with clay in 2011 and here we are, many moons later and I love it even more than I did the first day. It started as a hobby and morphed into a teeny tiny business thanks to my community and continued orders for custom pottery pieces. I am extremely lucky to have so many people who have given me support and encouragement to keep creating, to keep growing and who see my light.
